Why
Sony is behind competitors ? |
A book titled
“Sony. Lost twenty years. Talentlessness
and hope seen from inside” has a good
reputation. Mr. Setsuo Harada, the author of this book worked for 40 years and
retired from Sony in 2010.
Sony announced 456.6 bilion Japanese yen (5 billion US $) of loss at
the fiscal year of March in 2012. Mr. Harada pointed out the reason why Sony
lost a race of business as follows:
After retirement of founders
of Sony, following representative directors, especially Mr. Dei started to lay
off excellent engineers again and again who moved to competitors. On the
contrary, the remuneration of directors increased. Those who worked hard until
midnight every nights at low salaries felt it partial and were discouraged.
Representative directors recently do not have much experience at front line of
marketing and R&D, and have few knowledge of technology and Sony products.
Those directors only feel concern about the American style business such as
internet, Hollywood movie and IC card, which is needed political
strategy. The author worked in personnel for a long time and described
the evaluation of workers and wages very precisely. |
